Urinary Tract Infection Test

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) can affect both women and men at any stage of life. More than 50% of all women experience problems related to UTIs at some point. In many cases, the symptoms disappear after a few days, but it is not uncommon for the infection to spread to other organs. A home rapid test is a good first step. Burning sensations and discomfort during urination are common symptoms. In some cases, fever and abdominal pain may also occur.

What is a urinary tract infection?

If you have a urinary tract infection, you will often experience pain or burning when urinating. The infection is caused by bacteria, mainly affecting the bladder and urethra, but any organ connected to the urinary tract, such as the kidneys, may become infected. Women are more commonly affected due to their shorter urethra.

How does the home urinary tract infection test work?

When the test strip comes into contact with urine, it changes color. The result can then be interpreted using the color chart included with the test. Detailed instructions are provided in the package.

Who can and should be tested?

Both women and men, regardless of age, can test their urine for UTIs at home. If you experience burning during urination, frequent urges to urinate, or unusual-smelling urine, taking a test is recommended. If you are pregnant and receive abnormal results, you should contact healthcare services.

What do the test results mean?

The urinary tract infection test measures levels of white blood cells, proteins, nitrites and blood in the urine. Elevated levels of these markers are common signs of infection and can be interpreted based on the color shown on the test strip.
